Rachmaninov was of course the brilliant virtuoso we all know, but as a genious composer he has as well his place in the standard classical repertoire. Here we hear him play the adagio sostenuto from his second piano concerto. This unique recording with the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra directed by Leopold Stokowski was made for RCA in 1929.

Jascha Heifetz plays Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35: I. Allegro moderato
*NOTE: This was from a movie, so Heifetz skips a LOT of the first movement due to time constraints. He skips nearly half of the piece, and so does the orchestra.
So please don't ask for second or third movements because I do not have them.
You also get to see a bit of Heifetz acting at the end. A great treat!
Conductor: Fritz Reiner
This is my favorite rendition of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto. I think Heifetz played a bit faster than in his recording.

Brendel playing beethoven piano concerto n°3 in C minor, op.37, first movement (allegro con brio), with claudio abbado, and the Lucerne festival Orchestra.
I posted the same concerto by zimerman. Brendel is very good, but zimerman is still my reference. everyone who has seen this video will agree with me. his cadenza is outstanding. brendel's version is still great, he is one of my reference too !
for the orchestra, i prefer bernstein who is a little more passionate, but abbado makes the orchestration clearer
