Deep House Music: Djuma Soundsystem - Les Djinns [Remix]

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

The Cosmic Lounge presents Deep House Music: Def Jaguar's remix of 'Les Djinns' by Djuma Soundsystem. "Djuma Soundsystem is Norwegian Mikkas and Danish Lars B who both live in Copenhagen. They met first time when they DJed at one of Copenhagens longest running club nights, the Sunday club "Offline", and quickly became unseperable friends and production partners. Mikkas and Lars' producer career started in a for club music producers somewhat odd way; In 2001 they composed and produced the music for the ballet "Off The Record" for The Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. A ballet that merged classical music with elements of new electronic genres. The story of Djuma Soundsystem began a couple of years later in 2003, when Mikkas and Lars B decided to make a tune under the following dogma: to make an ethnical sounding club banger, that wasn't cheesy!? Mikkas and Lars B has remixed, produced and coproduced tracks under many different monikers, such as Ben Horn and Def Jaguar. They have just finished remixing a track for Philipe Cohen Solal (Gotan Project) under their Ben Horn moniker, for his Moonshine sessions project on Ya Basta records and are releasing as Def Jaguar on Danish based label Big Star records and IO in UK. As DJs Lars and Mikkas has been playing for over a decade, all over Europe, and residencies includes Vega, Culture Box and Rust in Copenhagen. Their sound as producers is very varied, ranging from balearic disco vibes to straight up slammers, but always with a focus on grooves and recognicabel melody lines." http://www.last.fm/music/Djuma+Soundsystem

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 Countdown: Triple H

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

For a moment, forget all the monikers and catch phrases. Overlook the seemingly countless championships and tournaments he has won. Ignore the fact that he has spearheaded two of the most important factions in WWE history, and overcome what the pundits considered career-ending injuries. You need only two words to properly sum up Triple H: The Game Strong words, especially when one considers the King of Kings was once a 135-pound "beanpole" from Nashua, N.H. But when he received a free one-week membership for a small local gym one summer day, the 14-year-old "gangly" teen's life changed forever. For the next three years, he spent nearly every day in that gym, developing every muscle in his body and transforming himself into a six-foot-four, 210-pound powerhouse. He entered -- and won -- numerous regional bodybuilding competitions, including the prestigious Teen Mr. New Hampshire title at the age of 19. Yet The Game himself admits, "I never seriously considered becoming a pro bodybuilder... My dream was World Wrestling Entertainment." ore than 20 years after entering that small Nashua gym, Triple H maintains the strictest of training regimens, incorporating techniques from world-renowned fitness trainers like Charles Glass. Such dedication has provided him with the fortitude to become a Grand Slam champion; the wisdom to shepherd the "Evolution" of then-newcomers Randy Orton and Batista to WWE Superstardom; the charisma to star in feature films, television shows, and commercials; and the stamina to pull countless sophomoric pranks on Mr. McMahon as a founder of D-Generation X. And it's precisely what makes him "that damn good." Davood Behboudi

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

http://www.bebin.tv -- The first album was Happy Birthday, the first hit was Asal. More than a decade and a half ago Davood Behboodi wooed young Iranian females from around the globe, indulging in their "honey colored eyes". Several albums and many female-named titles later, he is still going strong. With the release of his latest album, Tannaz, Behboodi seems to have the female segment of the population covered. Thanks to an innovative but simple business strategy. "When I brought out Asal, all the brides-to-be wanted that song at their wedding, and they wanted me there to sing it," Behboodi said. "There was Nazi-Nazi, Mahtab Khanom.... And now there's Tannaz." Whenever there's a wedding and a bride has the same name as one of my song titles, they want me." Behboodi is more than an expert on monikers. His latest release features his voice and his guitar prowess on the electric, twelve strings and six strings guitar. Behboodi plays an instrument on every track. It has been over thirty years Davood Behboodi has enchanted us with his vocals and music. As he continues to entertain the Iranian community, we see him as a respectable person and trustworthy friend.

Red Jackson - Coming Clean // Solaris Heights remix

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

Anthony Gorry aka Red Jackson is an Artist/Songwriter/Producer/Remixer from United Kingdom. This is his successful track 'Coming clean', remixed by Solaris Heights. ------------- Solaris Heights are Anton Fielding and Bryan Robson. Info - B J Robson - - - Muzik magazine placed his bands single Darkest Day in the Top 100 records of that year, DJ magazine hailed his Solaris Heights work an essential buy and he has re-mixed and worked with such renown artists as Will Smith, Nina Miranda, Tears For Fears, Jay-Z and Roy Ayers. At the heart of the music is Bryan J Robson. Hailing from a small village swallowed up in the stark, sprawling, industrialized landscape of the North-East of England. A landscape that has no doubt contributed to Bryans, sometimes escapist, musical output. The deep Balearic beats of Solaris Heights, the Latin tinged, Sleazy-Listening of Nemo and the cosmopolitan, cinematic feel of the Streetlife Originals album Sidewalk Stories is all a far cry from the bleak environs of Clevelands industrial heartland. - - - Since 1995, Bryan has been steadily releasing house records under various monikers, for which hes received high praise from fellow artists and the press alike, writing for labels such as Naked Music, Guidance, JCR (Compost), Freerange, Renaissance, SAW, Paper Recordings, Azuli, Stereo Productions, Forensic Records, Movim, Chumbo Mundo, Airtight and Hooj. Working under the guise of Streetlife Originals, Solaris Heights, Tiny Stikz, Black Atlantic, Nemo, and many others, Bryan has established a reputation for continuously producing quality house records. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Info - Anton Fielding - - - Anton began his production career in 96 with Solaris Heights, when a mutual friend, and one-time founding band member, Mark Huskisson, introduced him to B J Robson. Working under various production guises Anton has now released over thirty singles on labels Hooj, Airtight, The End, Alola, Forensic, Low Pressings, Plastica, Renaissance, Solar, and Satoshi Tommies SAW Recordings in New York. - - - All of these releases have had widespread impact in clubs across the world, with big names in house music like Danny Tenaglia, Deep Dish, Sasha, Danny Howells, and many, many others playing, and supporting, his music. The Echomen single 'Perpetual' was also one of the biggest records at Miami Winter Music Conference in 2003. If youre a house DJ, youll almost certainly have one of Antons productions in your record box. - - - Anton has been DJ-ing for over 10 years and can regularly be found playing at underground clubs such as Mint - Buenos Aires, Womb - Tokyo, Peter Pan and Echoes - Italy, Decadance - Greece, Shindig Newcastle, The End - London, Cellar Bar - NYC, Serena Brazil, Atari @ Exit and Global Lithuania, Kristal Bucharest and Neo Moscow.

Deep House Music: Rhythm Slaves - Timeslip

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

The Cosmic Lounge presents Deep House Music: 'Timeslip' by Rhythm Slaves. "As a seasoned musician, Richard Gow developed his initial love for art in the sonic form at the youthful age of eight. With a father who played the trumpet in a band, it was the more classical sounds that sparked his original interest. Now, years later, he possesses innumerable experience, having evolved through the spectrum of genres, landing in his unique blend of house and jazz with an inherent dance floor feel. Born in the town of Hayes in the suburbs of London, he spent most of his childhood in England. His most significant musical influences can be traced back several decades to The Beatles, The Crusaders, Earth, Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder, enjoying the sounds of early rock and roll, funk, jazz, soul and a fusion of other rhythmic elements. Though Richard looks toward the future, he is aware that it would not have been paved without the sounds of yesteryear. Without these artists, I do not think music would be the same today, he says. Circa 1987, Richard began formulating his personal influences on the music industry, creating his own sounds and collaborating with other respected artists. In the late nineties, he returned to his loves of both jazz and dance music and began to infiltrate the production realm under various monikers. In recent years, he has signed several original tracks and remixes to labels including EMI, Rise and Sony. In 2001, Gow began working under one of his most notable alias, The Rhythm Slaves. Soon after, his Timeslip EP was released on The Rurals renowned imprint Peng. This record attracted attention from many of the worlds top DJs, including Mark Farina, Larry Heard and Gilles Peterson. Among other vinyl EPs was the emancipation of his Easy Living Album presented by The Rhythm Slaves on Hypnotic/EMI in April of 2002. In addition to being a solo project, The Rhythm Slaves is often times a collaboration between Richard as the producer alongside a group of live musicians and vocalists. Richard describes the outcome as, Jazzy house with a floor feel to it. With a unique, upbeat sound, it did not take long to peak interest from several international labels including the Los Angeles-based Deepfunk Records, which will soon release numerous tracks from The Rhythm Slaves outfit. First in line is the labels third release, the I Can Feel It EP, boasting two tracks formulated by Richard and company in addition to a deeper, dubbed down version of the title track by the fast rising Lawnchair Generals. Currently living in Cannes, France, Richard has released lately on Real Estate Records in Chicago under the alias Soussol. With Chris Simmonds remixes and Sol with John Acqauqviva and Lego remixes The Rhythm Slaves, Let Your Love shine On On - Odds 'n Ends ECBs label with Phil Weeks and 95 North on remixes, Grab Recordings, Back In Time ep, Chocoflash The Rhythm Slaves Ep ( France ) Elevation Recordings Make It Work with freestyle man and Shawn Ward remixes. Undo Records Life Is Like with Native Newyorker remixes. On his own brand new imprint Soussol Records relases such as The Light You Will See with Trentemoller, Kid Massive & Raoul remixes and Light Up Your Life Including a Jay-j Remix and again Kid Massive & Raoul. he also released a second Rythm Slaves album "Take Your Time" to positive critical acclaim. Latest signings have been with labels such as Easy Street Records, Diaspora Recordings, Kneedeep Recordings, Zoogroove Stereo, Undo, Real Basic, Seamless, Slaag, Swing City and West End. Watch out for new Summer 12" releases on the Soussol label - next release "Afro So" - can be heard on RS Myspace page." http://www.last.fm/music/Rhythm+Slaves

Used ceremonial yirdaki, Yarrngu F

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

You might sometimes come across merchants who sell didgeridoos (those ghastly Queenland tourist sticks) with catchy but meaningless monikers such as "ceremonial quality". This yirdaki made by Yarrngu has actually been USED in ceremony in Arnhem Land. It is a rarity for such instruments to then become traded, to enter the global economy. From Arnhem Land to Internet alright! Needless to say, this is a damn great instrument. It has all the characteristics you'd expect in high quality traditional yirdaki with the pedigree of actually having been used in ceremony. Again, an instrument from my personal collection which I'm letting go.

RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE Interview Ep37pt2 KASR VIDEO

Posted by Admin | Videos | Tuesday 6 January 2009

Hosting this episode is Mike Diablo from backstage with Timmy from Rage Against The Machine! Featuring a show built around FREEDOM and the plight of Leonard Peltier wrongly imprisoned and who fights for his and other Americans freedom from oppression. Kasrvnotebook: Rage Against the Machine is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1991. The band's continual members are vocalist Zack de la Rocha, guitarist Tom Morello, bassist Tim Commerford and drummer Brad Wilk. Rage Against the Machine is noted for its blend of hip hop, heavy metal, punk and funk as well as its revolutionary politics and lyrics. Rage Against the Machine drew inspiration from early metal instrumentation, as well as rap acts such as Public Enemy and Afrika Bambaataa. The group's music is based primarily on de la Rocha's rhyming styles and powerful stage energy, and Morello's unorthodox guitar techniques. Rage Against the Machine released their debut album Rage Against the Machine in 1992, which became a commercial success. Following a slot on the 1993 Lollapalooza, the band did not release a follow-up record until Evil Empire in 1996. The band's third album The Battle of Los Angeles was released in 1999. During their initial nine year run, they became one of the most popular and influential political bands in contemporary music. The band released their fourth studio album Renegades in 2000 and broke up shortly afterwards. Zack de la Rocha started a low-key solo career; the rest of the band formed the rock supergroup Audioslave with former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell. In April 2007 Rage Against the Machine performed together for the first time in seven years at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The band has continued to perform at multiple live venues since. Tim Robert Commerford (born February 26, 1968 in Irvine, California), also known by his various monikers/stage names (Y. tim K., Timmy C., Tim C, Simmering T, Tim Bob, and tim.COM) is the bassist/backing vocalist for Rage Against the Machine and for now-defunct Audioslave. for more info: www.ratm.com Kasrvnotebook2: Leonard Peltier (born September 12, 1944) is a Native American activist and member of the American Indian Movement. In 1977 he was convicted and sentenced to two consecutive terms of life imprisonment for the murder of two FBI Agents who died during a 1975 shoot-out on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. There has been considerable debate over Peltier's guilt and the fairness of his trial. Some supporters and organizations, including Amnesty International, consider him to be a political prisoner. Numerous appeals have been filed on his behalf but none have been ruled in his favor. Peltier is currently incarcerated at the United States Penitentiary in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. for more info: www.counterpunch.org/peltier01092007.html www.aimovement.org "Don't expect a lot from this show." Was the unofficial motto of KASR VIDEO, which made a pleasant surprise when we actually knocked out a great show! The program was a weekly 2 hour public access offshoot of the Arizona State University's original alternative radio station that aired in Phoenix. The music video show featured rarely seen videos and "new" music not in the "main stream." Along with non-conventional interviews it became a decent way to nurse a hangover with the midnight party crowd. These clips are edited as a sort of best of; minus the music videos.
